About the PA Foundation

The Produce Alliance Foundation (the “PA Foundation”), formed July 17, 2015, is the charitable arm of Produce Alliance, LLC (“PA”) a national produce supply management company.  It is composed of both monetary efforts and/or supplies donated to a collective foundation for purpose of contributing to selected charitable and time sensitive causes. The activities of the PA Foundation are responsive to real time current events requiring an immediate response; at times, the Foundation is dormant when there are no emergent issues that are appropriate for its support.

In March, 2020 the PA Foundation began to address the unprecedented Covid-19 Pandemic by serving Food Boxes to health-care workers and food insecure populations. Given PA Foundation's integration into PA and the foodservice supply chain, we have experienced first-hand how our distribution network has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Using our national produce supply chain network, we deployed some of the idled capabilities our food service supply chain alliance to initiate a food box program. By reactivating furloughed workers, and utilizing agricultural commodities already in the supply chain, we have been able to provide immediate access to food boxes of fresh produce, dairy, and protein.

As of December 2020, PA Foundation has raised more than $651,200 in donated funds and has delivered to 69 institutions, including schools, neighborhoods, hospitals and law enforcement. Donations continue to be collected, and this program continues to expand showing the commitment to begin the re-engagement of our full supply chain, from national and local farmers and suppliers, who were hard hit by this pandemic to their network of mostly family owned Distributors. PA Foundations sees this as the tip of the iceberg with respect to both the national need for fresh food, and our capabilities in serving the American people and promoting the US agriculture market. By using existing channels to both re-engage the agricultural workers laid off during this time, as well as providing a real benefit to the critical work it benefits, these efforts have prepared us for the responsibilities of partnering with many more local charities and relief funds, as well as national not-for-profit entities.

This Fall, PA was awarded more than $80 million dollars through the USDA Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. This funding was given to be used to distribute 1.8 million combination boxes from September 22-Oct 31 2020.

In six short weeks, Produce Alliance distributed over 55 million pounds of food (over 1.8 million combination boxes of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and meat products) to food banks, community and faith-based organizations, and other non-profits serving in 16 states.

While this was conducted through PA and not the PA Foundation, it speaks to the PA Foundations ability to carry out similar funding and scope in a similar time frame.  Although that funding ended, our ability to effectively and efficiently distribute food has not. With the help of our network, PA Foundation can distribute an endless amount of food and the need has never been stronger.

We believe, with your help, we can support even more frontline workers that battle each day to save our lives by giving them boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables. As a produce company this is our way to contribute during this time and say “we value you and greatly appreciate your superpowers.”
